Felix Gaeta is Absolutely, Positively a Cylon
Ok so I have been promising this for a very long time, and I keep putting it off, and so I have forgotten some of my evidence. But believe me! and I will update this as I remember/rewatch the episodes. Also let me note that I have only watched up through episode 2.5 (The Farm), so please don't spoiler anything that comes after that. Ok? Ok!
1. The first piece of evidence is more a logistics issue than anything. The Cylons are obviously very good at this infiltration business; they know exactly where they ought to have particular agents in order to achieve the maximum effect with the invasion, in terms of both emotional stimuli and logistical considerations. By emotional stimuli I mean that they know to send extremely hot, sex-crazed Six for Gaius Baltar, who responds quickly to that combination; cute and smiley Sharon ought to be the one seducing Helo down on Caprica, rather than Six, who's kind of cold and a little crazy when you get right down to it; and Simon, who gives off a warmth to him, is better suited to try to coax Starbuck into staying at the hospital than Leoben or Aaron Doral would be.
And by logistics I mean the obvious: WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE CYLON IN THE COLONIAL FLEET? The Cylons are not stupid. Sharon has access to some stuff, but she's only a Raptor pilot. She has no way of getting to the inner workings of the fleet besides putting her cover at risk (ie. sneaking away to blow up the water tanks). What the Cylons would ideally have is someone who can affect the fleet without ever being noticed - "oops! Hey, we've been boarded!" and such. Gaeta is in the ideal position for that, obviously.
Which leads me to my plot-based evidence.
2. Magical Cylon spy device!
Appears in CIC! And straight-edge, conscientious, hyper-affirmation-seeking Gaeta's response? "Wait, uh, didn't you put that there?" WRONG. This is totally out of character for the kid. Gaeta has his business together (mostly) and seeing Aaron Doral creeping around CIC installing an iSpy would make him freak out. Unless he wasn't there on purpose - or didn't see on purpose - or installed it himself.
3. "I studied bioinformatics before I signed up for the Colonial fleet."
What is a Cylon?
Biological parts +
Computer network
=
bioinformatics.
HUH. HOW ABOUT THAT.
4. Cylon detector.
Adama asks Gaeta to help on the Cylon detector. Do we ever see him do that? In fact, do we ever see him have anything at all to do with the entire detection process, other than letting drop the previous tidbit and not-bragging-really around the poker table? This could be because of Baltar and his total not-knowing-anything, which would be fine, but it seems very off for Gaeta, especially given his "give me more work, sir!" tendencies. Wouldn't you expect him to be all up in Baltar's grill or something?
5. Infamous hand movement.
Right before Sharon shoots Adama, the camera pans down to focus on her left arm meeting Gaeta's right. You don't see anything pass between them, and it's unlikely that he's handing her a sidearm - she has her own - but then we don't know how Sharon is triggered to shoot Adama (it's not conscious, as we can tell by the soundtrack that she's pretty much in a phased state when in happens). Does Gaeta have secret triggery Cylon pheromones, and when he shakes her hand they go poof? I don't know. I don't consider this definitive proof of anything, but it is, er, curious.
6. The entire world explodes after Adama gets shot.
The Cylons are bearing in and the fleet needs to jump. Ok. Who messes up the jump coordinates? Who comes up with a solution that involves networking the computers, the sole way the Cylons can gain comprehensive access to the ship's systems? Who writes the (FAILED) firewalls to try to keep the Cylons out? BING BING! Gaeta. All of these things allow the Cylons to infiltrate the Vipers' perimeter, board the Galactica, and get a bullet's-width away from venting the entire crew of the Galactica into space. Pretty good invasion tactic, especially if you have an inside man messing things up on purpose for you.
7. "I reran the security protocol".
In the episode where the corporeal Six tries to accuse Baltar of treason with the faked photo (Season One, Episode somethin or other), it's looking like Baltar's going to be convicted because everyone believes the photo is of him. The only thing that saves him is Six towering over him, telling him to repent, which he does at the last possible second. Coincidentally, as soon as Baltar repents, the photo is discovered to be a fake. By Gaeta. Who just, mmm, miraculously happened to rerun the security sweep on the photo, like, the SECOND after Baltar gets on his knees and whines to Six. HOW ABOUT THAT?!
8. Silly details.
I just saw this tonight as I was rewatching Colonial Day. During the last scene - the ballroom dance - the producers have everyone ticked off into their respective couples. Lee/Starbuck/Baltar have this weird menage a trois going, Laura dances with Adama, Dee and Billy are rocking out in a corner - and a red-befrocked Sharon is twirling on the arm of our good friend Felix Gaeta. Why would these kids even GO together? There's really been no proof they even know or like each other - they never communicate in any way. Except, of course, if they're both Cylons, in which case they match right up. Hrrrm.
I reserve the right to update this list! because I am a dooooork.

hmmmm you may be on to something...
i agree with everything - thank you for putting it all in one place
I hate to agree with you, but the evidence is adding up. One early clincher for me was the fact that it is implied that Gaeta plans most, if not all of the jumps Galactica performs, and the jump Sharon and ol' Crashdown make to Kobol was (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Pt. 1) was in Sharon's own words, calculated by him. What are the odds that Galactica just happens across Kobol if they are retreating into space in some random direction? Or is the man plotting the jumps responsible...
Agreed on all counts. You missed one big thing, IMO, though: Who's President Baltar's assistant? Oh yeah, that would be Gaeta. Ideal position to be in to more subtly supervise his actions (and possibly encourage him to go over the edge into booze and whores?). And who fixed the election so that Baltar would win? Gaeta. The *only* thing I haven't figured out completely there is why he was helping the resistance -- unless he's prophetic enough to know that there were things that only the humans would be able to find out (the road to earth).
Totally agreed with you, though. I saw a screen cap back at the start of season 2, when he networked the computers, showing that all the firewalls had gone down seconds before he got them back up again. Not sure if that was photoshopped, but if not, that's your smoking gun.

I've been telling my friends and coworkers about my suspicions about Gaeta for some time. You've nailed a couple of my pieces of evidence. Here are a few more:
1. "33" The Cylons turn up at the fleet's jump coordinates every 33 minutes. Who's in charge of those coordinates? Gaeta.
Even better... Baltar is about to be exposed by someone aboard the Olympic Carrier. Coincidentally, out all the ships in the fleet, this just happens to be the one suspected of carrying a Cylon spy because it failed to turn up at the coordinates. again... who is in charge of relaying those coordinates to the fleet? Gaeta.
2. "Taking a Break From All Your Worries" When Gaeta questions Baltar, he glances up at the camera in the ceiling. Was he just nervous? Seems unlikely. Or was he letting Baltar know they were being observed? This, of course, makes me wonder what Baltar whispered to Gaeta before Gaeta "attacks" him with the pen.
3. "Rapture" How much you wanna bet D'Anna was looking at Gaeta when she said "I never knew."
As for why Gaeta helps the resistance on New Caprica, keep in mind that the Cylons had been convinced by Six and Boomer that they had made a mistake. They were trying to make a new way of life by having humans and Cylons coexisting. Some Cylons didn't agree... if Gaeta is a Cylon, it's possible that he helping to stir things up.
Remember... They Have A Plan.
Taking a Break From All Your Worries -Baltar says something like 'There's something worse than being a traitor' and in response Gaeta tries to kill him - now what did Baltar say? For the second time. And it's a good reason why Gaeta stayed so close with Baltar.
These are all extremely valid points. Another item I would like to bring up, as well as pose this question that I can not even answer myself, (and neither can anyone I ask), is....
At the end of the miniseries pilot, when Bill goes back to his room, he finds a small piece of paper that reads, "There are only 12 Cylon models."
WHO
WROTE
THAT?
Gavin! Holy crap! I had totally forgotten about that!
As for everyone else's (apparently) valid third-season points, I won't be able to see any of those episodes until they come out on DVD, so shhh! No spoiling!
Even after the end of season three, I think your assessment has real merit. i just came to the same conclusion, and blogged about it. in summary though, and with learning who the other four of the final five are, i think gaeta is next in line as the final cylon. he has a similar central but non-leadership support role to the others. and roslin can't be the cylon, she has to die as per prophecy. but if any of the other main humans were the cylon, it would call into question the main basis for the story arc - that human hero's are leading the people to the promised land. if one of the heros like adama or lee is a cylon then that's a betrayal in a way. they're leading us to earth, but if one is a cylon, are they really leading us to a trap instead? too much emotionally i think. so gaeta is my guess. and i'd add i bet he's a clone of the scientist who invented the cylons or something like that. something pivotal to the history of the cylons.
Glad to have stumbled onto this site as I decided a few weeks back that Gaeta was the final cyclon, independently of any other info.
There are a number of clues, already raised here.
1. He plots the courses for the colonial fleet. The cylons always find them.
2. He is in a position where he see's all and hears all, yet remains unobtrusive. (Think The Usual Suspects)
3. D'Anna Biers sees the final five and recognises one of them.
There are only two people that could be. Anders, when he blew up a building on Caprica in the episode, Downloaded. And a much closer relationship with Gaeta as the advisor to Gaius during the cylon occupation of New Caprica.
In fact at one point he held them all at gun point during the uprising. She would not forget someone who held a gun at her head, and thus would be extremely suprised to find out that he is the final cylon.
There's something else I'll add to the mix...
Six was forever saying to Gaius Baltar that the Cylons don't praise False Gods, like the humans. Just one God.
The final cyclon may be held in some revere, like a God.
Now if it is
Lt Felix Gaetta,
is there something in his name that suggests he may be the undoing of the cylons.
F G - Felix Gaetta
F G - False God
Just an additional thought.
Bottom line though, it makes perfect sense that he is a cylon.
Hats off to the creators for keeping it secret this long, but I think the cat's out of the bag.
If you haven't seen it yet, there's a great montage of the series so far on utube summed up in 3 minutes.

Did any one notice that the four that were revealed at the end of season three: tigh, tyrol, tory, and anders all coordnated the attack on new caprica to bring the cylons down, guess where all there intel came from...Gaeta. All of them were the force on new caprica that were the reason the ground forces were successful. BAMM!
I had no idea it was Gaeta until I saw the Last Supper image with the associated interview with Ronald Moore. If you look at point number 10, it basically says that the final cylon is not in this image. After thinking about it, there were only 2 major characters missing from this picture. Dualla and Gaeta. Dualla has never given any indication whatsoever she's a cylon. That's when I started thinking about Gaeta, and it all started falling together. Somewhere else in that interview (or maybe another one), Moore said that once you knew who the final cylon was, all of the previous episodes would make sense. As I watch through them again with this in mind, Gaeta seems more and more suspicious.
And JulesLt, yeah, I really want to know what Gaius said to Gaeta still.
After reading this and thinking about the theory I came to conclusion that it's quite possible he may be kinda the brain of the Cylons or sumth. Someone who wants to stay unknown, unnoticed and close to the enemy to stir things from inside. It may have been his face no 3 saw in the temple...
Sometimes I find it very unlikely (cause hey - his run for he bowl or seemed veeeery genuine) but there are many scenes indicating that he MIGHT be a Cylon... Besides he kinda... rarely shows any emotions on his face...
Aww~~ my innocent Gaeta :P
I've thought it was Felix since the scene where Boomer shot Adama. Anyway... near the end of "Faith", the hybrid talks of how they need to find 3 to discover the final five. That could be a reference to D'Anna Biers AND it could also mean that 2 cylons (on Demetrius)need to join with the remaining 3 cylons (on Galactica)to reveal all 5. I think the hybrid is saying that there are 2 final-five cylons on Demetrius: Anders and Gaeta.
...and, of course cylons can get shot in the leg and badly wounded. They've been wounded before. Saul Tigh is missing an eye!
I really truly believe in all my heart that it is Felix. All valid points everyone had and I had it narrowed down to Dualla and Felix from the Last Supper Photo. I like what everyone has had to say and it is awful funny that his "accident" has cause to throw everyone off track! It seems we are all on same page however we will find out for sure in January to March as the last season ever will be shown. I have even tried watching Caprica to see if any clues are in this. None so far have been revealed. Sci-Fi Magazine is not even letting on about this but cleverly enough they did do a nice spot on Lt Felix Gaeta in one episode in August I believe it was. Bares some warrant to what we all think!
Check out the trailers for season 4.5 on scifi.com. They both show Felix. I was starting to doubt, but it just HAS to be him. He's central to everything. He's always in the right place at the right time. Jump.
In the Razor episode the Hybrid Cylon said the final Cylon would seek redemption then suffer terrible pain before being revealed. Post New Carpica Gaeta sought redemption and his leg was shot and amputated so thats suffering in my mind
Well, what now? Still think Gaeta was a cylon?
Great theory, well done, but I don't think that's the way it'll play out.
at the end of "blood on the scales" Baltar says to Gaeta "I know what you are" what else could this mean besides gaeta is a cylon
I agree. Four of the Five were all some kind of important second banana (Thats how you know Adama, Kara, and Roslyn aren't-- why would Cylons plant agents in pairs?), and all involved in the resisance on New Caprica. And lets face it: The so-called "final" Cylon is only a shocker because of her insignificance thus far. Put it this way: If you were a Cylon, who would you be? Aside from the impossiblity of being one of the Adama "family," or an already-known agent... you'd be Gaeta. Or Zarek, even! I just can't believe it's Tigh's pet cougar.
The only thing that made Gaeta a bad Cylon was his sexuality. Not the most effective way to make babies.
WOW, and you predicted this in 2006! Latest episode gives strong indications he is a Cylon IMO... I mean he tries to (Spoiler)! Not to mention the convo with Baltar, which could mean the thing, but nevertheless. Oh and the itch thing at the end. Definitely Cylon.
"Adama is a Cylon!" Remember that from series one where Kara interview Leoben? Let's suppose that he (thinks) he's right. In his premonition he sees a man, in a Colonial Officer's uniform, stood where the commander of a Battlestar stands. The Battlestar is the Galactica. He thinks he sees Adama, when in fact it's Gaeta stood where Adama normally is. Also, Gaeta is becoming bit by bit more Cylon. Consider this: it must be a right pain in the *ss for the special effects team to keep putting Gaeta's false leg in post production when it could easily just be hidden under his trouser leg (like any normal person would tend to wear it). He really seems to be enjoying the sense of being half-metalic. Also, after Baltar is dropped from the Cylon detector Gaeta takes over; he is the only one on board who can prove/disprove if somebody is Cylon.
Furthermore, remember the number 6 telling Saul how they can use pain, rather than turn it off, to focus the mind. Gaeta refuses the painkillers, the pain focuses his mind and he remembers the Lament "my life you can take". He doesn't fear death. And with his death, on Earth (which I swear is one whole Resurrection ship, but that's another conspiracy) he can be reborn. Remember what the Hybrid said of the final fifth "from the darkness hungering for redemption". There is something sinister and destructive about Gaeta, especially in his mood swings.
Kara is too obvious. Saul's wife is just a number 6 who aged badly. It's Gaeta.
Also, on a sidenote Gaius says "remember the special agreement, signed in your special pen?" which gets Felix so annoyed. I wonder what that pen is (oh, I get it!) especially since Felix always follows Gaius into the toilets, etc, etc
Just read my last post and thought of something else. The Galactica revolution isn't just a one off, Gaeta practiced it before: on the Demetrius. Also, I would like to agree with what everybody said before, they all kind of add to the whole Gaeta = Cylon thing.
And another thing: "do you really think you can code better than the Cylons?" asks Saul (who is Cylon). Gaeta can, because he is the ultimate Cylon.
But it's alright saying Gaeta is the final Cylon. What the frak is he up to? I like on of the theories that marks the final Cylon out as something completely different. Something alien (Moore said something about considering aliens, but not "green latex ones" because they would have really pi**ed Eddie J Olmos off). A war between Earth and the Colonies, muddied water, plans within plans, atrophy. Don't ask me how I'll be dead in a few thousand light years thank you thank you genesis turns to its source reduction occurs stepwise though all essence is one. End of line.
Okay, this is getting stupid. I apologise for the third comment so soon, but I just found the sheet music to Gaeta's lament. "Alone she sleeps in the shirt of man..." a final (feminine?) Cylon sleeper agent disguised as a man / human. Alone (i.e. something different). There may well be something else in there, but who knows
Whelp, looks like you were incorrect.. Hellen was the final cylon.. (As the latest episode proves, pretty obviously)
There is still the question of the artistic Daniel.
Artistic Daniel?
Starbuck, I'm nearly 100% certain (but then again we were wrong on the Gaeta thing, weren't we?)
A gentle, misunderstood artistic soul. Item 1: Kara's flat
You missed a hell of a point. Sharon had her own sidearm, sure, but watch that scene again. It's still holstered when she shoots Adama. The firearm used has no micro explosive launcher, it is a deck officer's sidearm.
lol gaeta is Daniel...Daniel was an archietect...so was geata...also at the end of the final series...geatas hopes everyone works out who heis...baltar knows who he is...Daniel is the only cylon not shown and cabal hates him and wants to put him through hell...gaeta=Daniel...certain
